The Cellar

After much thought, we have decided to dedicate our Cellar section to information and links to advance your knowledge of fermentation, distillation, tasting, buying, storing, marketing, and any other aspects of the world of libation. That is to say, a fun education. So follow along, with all the other non-connoisseurs, as we attempt to learn lots of cool stuff. A pop quiz may follow, so sharpen those pencils and all eyes to the front of the classroom.

con-nois-seur n. a person who is especially competent to pass critical judgments in an art, esp. one of the fine arts, or in matters of taste.

THE MATTER OF TASTE vs DRINK
Ever been to a wine tasting? Were people really tasting or were they drinking? Did you, heaven forbid, spit or did you swallow? Yes, I know, you didn't want to waste the wine and it wouldn't be ladylike to spit. Tasted or wasted. Let's call it a wine drinking or wine party, but not a tasting.

We first learned of taste in grade school, when we mapped out the different parts of the tongue and found out what each part tasted. Click on the tongue diagram for more information.
